New Standards Trio celebrates the great american song book with arrangements on both jazz and pop standards. Highly energetic interplay and virtuoso improvisation and worldclass musicianship characterizes this new trio based out of Copenhagen, Denmark.

Søren Lee - Guitar
Søren Lee doesn’t just play – he narrates. With his guitar as a brush, he shapes soundscapes, movement, and meaning. Born in Copenhagen in 1966, a professional musician since the age of 15, and a graduate of The New School in New York City.

He has performed and recorded with some of the most influential voices in jazz, including:
Ray Brown, Jim Hall, Alvin Queen, Adam Nussbaum, Brian Melvin, Victor Jones, Linley Marthe, Tim Hagans, George Garzone, Dave Liebman, Hiram Bullock, Mads Vinding, Jesper Lundgaard, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Brad Mehldau, Niels Lan Doky, Roy Haynes — and many more.

With 15 albums as a leader and annual performances at the legendary Smalls Jazz Club in NYC, Søren Lee has forged a highly personal artistic identity – one that resonates far beyond the stage.

Yasser Morejon Pino - Bass

Originally from Havana and now based in Copenhagen, Yasser Morejon Pino brings the soul of Cuba into every note. His playing is rooted and resonant – a balance of rhythm, melody, and pure instinct.

He has worked with Chucho Valdés Jr., Roberto Fonseca, Afro-Cuban All Stars, Harold López-Nussa, and numerous other world-class artists across genres and continents. His tone is deep, his timing immaculate – he grounds the trio, yet always speaks.

Mikkel Villingshøj - Drums

Mikkel Villingshøj is a sonic architect. A drummer, composer, and producer who moves seamlessly between genres – from hip hop (Suspekt, Jooks), to gospel, rock, and contemporary jazz.

His 2022 debut album revealed him as a composer and bandleader with a distinctive artistic vision. His drumming is sharp, dynamic, and richly textural – always serving the moment, always creating space.
